The Looe Valley Line links the historic market town of Liskeard with the picturesque fishing port of Looe by way of the East Looe river valley.
The journey down to Looe is full of beautiful views out of the train window. Heavily wooded valleys teeming with wildlife open up to glorious estuary views as the river heads towards the sea. Bird watchers will love this line as, especially at low tide, the river is full of wading birds such as Litte egrets, Grey herons, Oystercatchers and Curlews.
You can even break up your trip and get off at some of the quietest stations in England, Sandplace, Causeland, St Keyne Wishing Well Halt and Coombe Junction are little more than platforms in the deep countryside, but if you like walking they offer up some great routes, as can be found in the book Rambles from the Railway
